Well, this weekend is the first of 2 huge recruiting weekends. Maurice Wells, Avery Atkins, Quentin Wesley, Ray Herring, Anthony Barnes, and Tyler Compton are just some of the high school prospects giving us a visit. Lots of blue-chip talent here. I look forward to hearing some good news on Monday!

The way things have been going you will probably only hear good news on Quentin Wesley.

Jamie Newberg says we're on track to have a top 25 recruiting class, and he generally knows his stuff.

We have to get Mabry, Wesley and hope that our "soft verbals" (Sapp, Jones & Thomas) follow through. I'm also keeping my eye on Gage Crews and Michael Hall. That would make this a top 25 class.

I definitely think we're gonna get Michael Hall and have a good shot with the others.

We apparently have a visit scheduled with this QB:

http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=140&p=8&c=1&nid=1167904

He originally verbaled to Zook, but there's apparently some mutual interest now that Zook left, and Todd Walker backed out.

Wow, this would be great if we can land Garner.

Another lefty, and he is a very good "true pocket" passer. Makes very quick reads has a decent, but not great, arm, and hits his recievers in stride.

He also if I'm not mistaken went to the same HS as Kenny Scott.

odd news- Georgia Tech and Quentin Wesley came to a "mutual agreement" that GT wasn't the place for Wesley.

the only thing I can think of is his grades weren't up to par.....weird

Maurice Wells:

"That was my fourth official visit. I won't need a fifth. It's a two team race right now. It's Georgia Tech and Ohio State. I've told the other schools to pretty much not waste their time. Those are the two schools I feel most comfortable with, and they both offer early playing time. I'm going to make an announcement at the (Scout.com/Army) All-American Game (1-15)."

Anthony Barnes (http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=140&p=8&c=1&nid=1189319):

"Coach Gailey talked to me about having a player my size to go along with Calvin Johnson. I almost committed while I was there. Mississippi State is coming to the house tonight, and I'm going to sleep on it, but I may make a decision tomorrow."

Jahi Word-Daniel (http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=140&p=8&c=1&nid=1306203):

"Jamar Clark was my host. I had a great visit. it was a 9 out of 10. I liked watching practice. Coach Gailey and staff are very organized. I like the way they go through each drill. There is a purpose behind each drill. I talked with Coach Gailey about my decision. The more I talk with Coach Gailey, the more it re-assures me that I made the right decision. Coach Gailey is very well spoken."

"I had seven interceptions and returned two for touchdowns. I blocked two punts."
